Privacy
Your words stay yours.
Troth is where two people share some of the most intimate words they will ever exchange. We do not take that lightly. Privacy is not the fine print of this product — it is part of the promise.
Last updated: June 20, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what Troth (“we,” “us,” or “our”), operated by Exitroom101 LLC, collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to the Troth iOS app and this website.
The short version
- We never sell your personal information. Not to advertisers, not to data brokers, not to anyone.
- We do not advertise inside Troth, and we do not use the private answers you share with your partner to target ads.
- Your answers are for the two of you. They are visible to you and your connected partner — not browsed, sold, or published by us.
- You can leave with your data, or ask us to delete it, at any time.
Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account details — such as your name or chosen display name and email address, used to create and secure your account.
- Your partner connection — the link between you and the partner you invite, so the ritual can be shared between you.
- Your answers and reflections — the responses you write to the daily questions. These are the heart of Troth and are treated as sensitive, private content (see “Your private answers” below).
- Support messages — anything you send us when you contact support.
Information collected automatically
- Device and usage information — basic technical data (device type, app version, crash and performance diagnostics) needed to operate Troth reliably and fix problems. We aim to keep this to the minimum required.
Purchases
- Subscription status — handled by Apple. Your payment details are processed by Apple under their terms; we receive only what we need to know whether your subscription is active. We never see your full card information.
How we use your information
- To operate the daily ritual and deliver your questions.
- To connect you with your partner and sync your shared experience.
- To maintain your account, security, and subscription.
- To provide customer support and respond to you.
- To understand and improve how Troth works, using the least identifying information practical.
- To meet legal obligations and protect the safety and rights of our users.
Your private answers
The words you write in Troth are the private correspondence of a couple. We give them special care:
- They are intended to be seen by you and your connected partner — not by other users.
- We do not sell them, publish them, or use them for advertising.
- We access the content of your answers only where strictly necessary to provide, secure, or repair the service, to comply with the law, or with your permission.
If Troth offers a way to delete an individual answer or your entire history within the app, you may use it; you can also contact us to request deletion.
How information is shared
We share personal information only in these limited ways:
- With your partner — the shared parts of the ritual are, by design, visible to the partner you connect with.
- With service providers — trusted vendors who help us run Troth (for example, secure cloud hosting and infrastructure), bound to protect your information and use it only to serve us.
- With Apple — for app distribution and subscription billing, under Apple’s terms.
- For legal reasons — when required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users or the public.
- In a business transfer — if Troth is ever involved in a merger or acquisition, your information may transfer with it, subject to this policy.
We do not sell your personal information.
Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide Troth. When you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we must retain limited records to meet legal, security, or accounting obligations.
Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these, email us at support@trothapps.com and we will respond as required by law.
- EEA / UK residents: you have rights under the GDPR / UK GDPR, including the right to lodge a complaint with your data protection authority.
- California residents: you have rights under the CCPA / CPRA, including the right to know, delete, and correct, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them. We do not sell or “share” your personal information as those terms are defined under California law.
- Subscriptions: manage or cancel anytime in your iPhone’s subscription settings through your Apple ID.
Security
We use technical and organizational measures designed to protect your information, including encryption in transit. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, but we work to safeguard the trust you place in us and to keep your most private words private.
Children
Troth is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to remove it.
International users
Troth is operated from the United States. If you use Troth from another country, your information may be processed in the United States and other countries with different data-protection laws. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for such transfers.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you. Your continued use of Troth after an update means you accept the revised policy.
